- The lawyer’s full name and jurisdiction.
- Whether a current practising certificate or equivalent status is shown.
- The law firm or employer associated with the lawyer.
- Any certificate type, condition or public disciplinary information the register displays.
- Whether a claimed accreditation appears in the relevant official specialist register.
If you cannot find the lawyer
Try spelling variations and check another jurisdiction, particularly where a lawyer works interstate. A register may distinguish solicitors, barristers, law firms and foreign lawyers. If the search remains unclear, contact the regulator shown by the official source rather than drawing a conclusion from an empty search.
