Sources and law firm checks
Law firm information can come from a firm’s website, public information and firm submissions. Checks may compare the firm name, location and contact details against available sources. Information can become outdated after it is checked, so the displayed check date is evidence of timing rather than a promise that every detail remains current.
What “Verified” means here
A Verified badge means Lawyers Near You has completed its defined identity and contact review for that law firm. It does not mean that Lawyers Near You endorses the firm, has assessed legal ability or guarantees practising status, availability, fees or outcomes. Users should still consult the relevant professional register.
Law firm information under review
When identity or contact information conflicts, we may withhold phone, email, website and rating information and prevent the law firm page from being indexed. We do not guess a replacement contact from a similarly named business.
Your independent checks
Confirm the individual and law firm, ask whether the lawyer handles the relevant service and jurisdiction, and obtain a written explanation of scope and fees. The Australian Legal Profession Register and state or territory regulators are better sources for current practising-status checks.
